What is transcription in art? Transcription has come to mean reinterpreting a piece of art. No so much copying, but revitalizing it. In order for original artworks to remain exciting it is important to attach new meaning to them in a modern context. For the artist who is remaking the photograph, it is a very insightful experience. As we unravel and take apart the image, a deeper understanding of the artist's thought process is felt. And it forces us to make conscious, deliberate choices in our art.
